Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to get a brace?
What’s the difference between custom bracing and off-the-shelf bracing?
Off-the-shelf braces come in standard sizes and can often provide quick support for common injuries and conditions.
Custom braces are specifically measured (or molded) for your body and are ideal when you need advanced stability, long-term support, or a precise fit, especially for ligament injuries or arthritis.
What conditions do you provide bracing for?
We provide bracing for many orthopaedic needs, including:
- Knee ligament instability (ACL/PCL/MCL/LCL)
- Knee osteoarthritis (unloading braces)
- Patellar tracking issues / dislocations
- Ankle sprains and chronic instability
- Walking boots & non-custom AFOs
- Achilles/plantar fasciitis (night splints)
- Wrist/thumb support (carpal tunnel, thumb spica)
- Elbow tendinitis (tennis/golfer’s elbow)
- Back & SI support belts
What should I bring to my appointment?
If you have them, bring:
- Any referral, prescription, or imaging notes
- Your insurance details (if you’re claiming coverage)
- Shorts or loose clothing (for knee/leg bracing)
- The footwear you wear most often (for certain ankle/AFO fittings)
This helps ensure the best possible fit and recommendations.
